IN THE WIND P40 Devlin Tops Harpersville East Hare Scrambles B eta's Thorn Devlin took the overall win at the Harpersville, New York, round of the SRT AMA East Hare Scrambles Championship, June 21. Devlin, however, had to work for it, because "The Batman" Benjamin Bauw- ens (Yamaha) wanted the win just as badly as Devlin and put up a good fight. The two went at it heavily midway through the race before Devlin managed to break away slightly and hold on for the win. Devlin and Bauwens weren't alone, either, because Dominick Morse (KTM) was right there, too. All three riders said afterward that the heavily wooded track and muddy conditions added up to a challenging racecourse that saw all of the front-runners going down at least once. Fellow Beta rider Kyle McDonal took fourth followed by Neil Enman (Husqvarna). Approximately 90 riders made up the morning's Youth race, and the overall winner came from the second row. Owen Barnes (Kawasaki), signed up in the Supermini (12-13), worked his way up through the field, got around early leaders Bailey Flynn (Suzuki) and Brock Dennison (Kawasaki), and went on to take the win. Dennison ended up second with Flynn filling out the podium. Owen Planty (KTM) topped the 40-rider-strong Pee Wee 50cc race. Kenny Held OVERALL 1. Thorn Devlin (Bet) 2. Benjamin Bouwens (Yam) 3.
