first in the 750cc class (he rides an
overs ized 650 Kawasaki) . He intends
to ride a similar bike. a lillie bit more
developed, at Laguna Seca .
Mike Spencer. on the same bike
(KZ650) he rode in the Prod uction
race , dominated the 750cc/Open
Superstreet race and won it overall by
quite a comfortable margin . He was
credited for a win in the 750cc class .
O n the GP side of that meeting, and
for the NO Spark Plug money involved
in the Golden State Series, in the 125cc
class it was no contest for John Glover
a nd his Honda MT125. Open GP was
the pro pe rty of Mark H omchick on the
Paul Dam ien T Z750 Ya maha that he
will ride at Laguna Seca during the
National.
Bu t in 250cc GP we saw a ba ttle be tween G len Shopher (Farm Ho use
Resta ru a n t Ya m) and Th ad Wolff
(Neil Sorensen Yam) . T had . charged
u p after his two AM A Novice race wins '
at Elkart La ke and Lou don, was second
to th e Concord rider in the early stages
of the race, but very soo n it would be
those two going back and forth at the
lead of the race.
After the ha lfwa y ma rk . though . it
seems like Wolf had the upper hand
on Shopher, but on the last lap as both
riders encountered a slower b ike .
Shopher went to the left of turn 18 and
Wolf on the right . and in 19. Shopher
ha d a bett er line and m a naged to stay '
ahead of W olf who , a fter a good ride
had to settle for second.
