So it was with some surprise th at this near stad ium mo tocross size la yout would p roduce so m any acci den ts. Perhaps it was th e fa tigu ing hea t or the release of the p ressure of th e sta te m ot ocross cham pions hip tha t ca used everyon e to relax 100 m uch . but whatever the reaso n . there was more Ja panese meta l flying in the a ir since the end of the Big Two ca per. Heading the list of high flyers was Ben Norfolk of Gill ett e . WY . wh o took adva ntage of an off da y for Rice Cyclesspo nsored Deryk Wa rd . who usually wins th e 250cc Expert cla ss. W ard cou ld do no better than dead las t today a fter a firs t m oto crash and a DNF in the secon d ro und pu t h im out entirely . Billy Sto rk . usu all y a top contender in a ny class. a lso had a d isastrous d ay in th e 125cc Expert class. Stork won the state crown in th e 125cc class. bu t co uld do no better than fifth overall on t he basis of an 8-3 showing. WY . Most people who rush th e fen ces to wa tch the Beg inners ra ce in the 125C bash do so for one rea son . They like to see t he arms and legs fly. Bu t today was different. There was a close ra ce for the lea d be twee n Lyn n H yde and Mrs. Ma rg e Stork. mother of Billy Stork . wife of Bill . Sr . H yde finall y got a rou nd Mrs. Stork in the first moto , bu t not without firs t eating a healthy serving of sa wd ust a nd grit. In the second rnoto, H yd e had to co ntend with Mrs . Stork once agai n and Marty Cook . H yde bested Mrs. Stork to ta ke th e overa ll ' win whi le Ma rt y won the second moto . Mrs .
