From that point on it was pretty easy going as he built up a IO·second lead over second place rider Gene Manhire (mai). Snarr took the white flag and , with such a long lead , he began to take it a little easy . He made the last tum and looked for the checkered. onl y to see the white flag still flying and the flagman wavin g him onto another lap. Meanwhile, Manhire was making a last minute cha rge and managed to close the gap between himself and Snarr. Manhire closed to within two seconds on the extra last lap but Snarr saw him coming and picked up the pace enough to give himself a three second edge a t the end of the race. The benefit pan of the day turned out pretty well. A number of CMDA members d onated prizes which were awarded to the riders and a fair sum of money was collected from the profits the ' CMDA program. As for mentioned earlier, the proceeds went to the CMDA's motorcycle park program. That organization has hired a . consulting firm to help counties obtain and use the green stickie money that is due them . So far the program has ga ined a lot of ground for count ies that were confused by the red tape involved in getting green stickie money and a number of pa rks have been or are being set up th roughout the state.. Since the program seems to have mern the Ridge Ru n ners offered to donate the race profits to help with financing . Rider turnout for the event was pretty good even though a District 56 screwup allowed another race to be run on the same day, drawing a hundred or so possible entries away from the event. The next Ridge Runners motocross at Watsonville will be held on August 17 and , although not a benefit event , it will definitely be a good on e to attend . Resu lts 125 NOV ON 1: 1.
