mo unted . took over . All of a sudden
here comes Michlitsch, again from
last. pushing Cropper right by
Heuman. The last three laps were a
real scramble between C rop pe r and
Michlitseh with Tim taking over on
the final loo p.

T he first O pe n Pro bas h belonged to
Barney Newm an (Yam) all the way. He
started ou t front in the second but
Mon ty Mitchell (Hon) began applying
some pressure a nd too k over while
Newm an spent a cou ple of la ps
alternately ge tti ng off the track and
off his bike. Mitch Kirkpa trick [ Hus}
pulled u p to give Mitchell a real push
going into the home stretch.
There were onl y two Min i Expert
entries and it looked as if Denny
Fennell would walk awa y with th e
second moto as he had the first. He
ha d a cozy lead but Sean Leichner
sud denly sta rted creeping up on him
like a gird le on a fat la dy. The last
severa l laps were really up for g rabs
an d they took the flag side by side .
Fennell had a slight edge at the
clim ax .
