W ith two excellent enduros behind us now , the jailhouse with its wet sand dunes, and the Bush -Bunny wit h its long 55 m ile loop, end uro riders are anxiousl y awaiting the next event in October. The Bush -Bunny Enduro turned ou t to be the toughest enduro Distric t !l8 has seen in this area . We saw some good mud hills. sand dunes and the "rock garden." It tired both man and motorcycle. However. it also was the first Bush-Eaters M .C . en du ro ever zeroed by any rider. which there were three , H arley Vande Loo , Ma rk Da vis and Tom DiDomenico. In February we will hold the award banquets in conjunction with the desert riders. It is an excellent affair, with awards presented. dining and dancing. and of course the never ending race talk, A word of advice.. .there are very few clubs putting on desert races and endures any more. They need a lot of help and they get very little praise for all thei r hard work. Financial rewards are not as great as they may seem . Desert events are promoted because of interest by club members in th e sport. Lets no t let our sport fa de away. We need more clubs to put on desert races and enduros. So remember. stop and think before you harass a club member. he could easily be doing something else with his spare time besides working at a race event. Come out and enjoy what we have and let the clu bs know you a re enjoying their event. BRUCE SANFORD D·!l8 Enduro Steward Sa n Diego.
