Kevin Davis muscled his 400cc Megafonn I into the lead and was pursued by Harden, Can-Am-ace Kevin Welch, Husky's Sid Tarbert and the Valley Cycle Yamaha of Leroy Kyger. Harden commanded the race by lap two with Davis a distant second. Welch remained third while Kyger stuffed Tarbert for fourth. Davis regained the lead , which he held to the checkered, when Harden's Husky lost its lower end. Welch elevated to second and Tarbert repassed Kyger for third . In 250cc action, Nevada Yamaha's Troy Fitch put his Yamaha Support YZ250 into the lead and was gone. Team Husky's Chuck Rush circulated rapidly to a second place finish while Marv Chapman continued his successful transformation to the 250cc ranks by posting a third on his Team Vegas Cycle Maico. The 125cc event saw Caliente, NV , Amateur Jody Meader leading the first lap overall on a screaming Yamaha YZ. In close formation was the Team Valley Cycle Yamaha of Kevin Steele and Nevada Yamaha pilot Benny Brown running first and second Expert , respectively . Steele took the overall lead on lap two when Meader stopped for gas and smoldered to the win unchallenged. Meader got it going again to finish second overall, first Amateur. Brown dropped out with mechanicals that turned second place Expert over to the Daryl Folks (Suz)/Mike Welch (C·a) dice. They battled boldly with Folks prevailing and Welch a close third. Motorcycle Racing' Association of Nevada European Scrambles ' at Yucca Patch Raceway . Las Vegas "400" partners Troy .Fitch and Kevin Steele captured individual class wins with Fitch flogging the 250cc Experts while Steele stormed to top 125cc laurels. Casey Folks , Jr. put his Sportsman Cycle Husqvama into the Over 30 winner's circle as Team Vegas Cycle's Ron Timmons topped the Over 38 class on a Maico 400cc Magnum . The Yucca Chuckers M.C. - a young group of Boulder City , NV riders headed by S&E Cycles owner Bill and Marilyn Shipman - la id out a superb l l -mile course that was well liked by most contestants. By Jeff Robbins RED MOUNTAIN, CA, MAY 10-11 The Prospectors M.C. did well in providing two days of racing on two good courses. The spectators could see the action on both loops from the home checks since they were only about a hundred feet apart. Luc:eme Valley - Red Mountalri The Trailbikes began both days of racing. On Saturday Scott Vanderveen buzzed his 100cc Yamaha to the lead of the Novices and Beginners followed .by Scott Schmidt (Yam), second Novice , and Frank Chase, first Begin ner. After three laps the results were the same. On Sunday Scott Schmidt led to the bomb and possibly motored his way to getting new suspension from Dad for finally winning his class. Schmidt was followed into the finish by Mike French, second Novice, and Frank Chase, first Beginner. The women's division found no surprise in Trudy Beck (250cc Yam). She was in her usual spot - first Expert, first overall on both days . The surprise was found by Lori Fanner (250cc Ex) when getting to the bomb third behind Beck and her sister Tricia Fanner (175cc Nov) both days. Lori soon passed Tricia to move into second overall and held that to the finish. On Saturday, about halfway around loop one, Diane Holeman (250cc Hus) , minus her rear brakes, passed Tricia Fanner and moved into third overall and they held these positions to the finish . Earl Roeseler, who was the first-ever number one Trailbike in 1965, won the Senior division on Saturday, coming from fourth overall at the bomb behind Dave Deichman, Bob Doig and Morris Norman, Daig finished second, but close enough that . Roeseler had to keep on his toes. Norman was third with Larry Upp fourth and first Amateur. On Sunday, at the end of lap one , the Seniors were set as follows: Roeseler, Norman, Gus Paull, Doig, and Deichman. Norman had constant pressure on Roeseler coming through the home check after two laps with 20 feet between them, followed in about a minute by Gus Paull and Bob Doig with 20 seconds between them . Going to the bomb Norman passed Roeseler, but one mile later Roeseler got the lead back, coming out of the canyon three miles from the finish . Norman tried to pass Roeseler but Roeseler held the lead until a quarter mile from the finish where Norman caught a slightly straighter trail to slip into the lead and the win. Paull held down third overall until he found a "bush bump" within sight of the finish, crashing hard and putting himself out of the race. In the ninth and 10 spots overall came the battle for the Senior Novice class win between Danny Drew and Bill Stally_ Drew had a rear flat but seemed to ignore it to dice with Stally on the last lap with Stally coming out first and Drew second. Dirk Davidow led the 175cc Novices on Saturday until he crashed about 100 yards from the home check where he turned the lead over to Scott Crawford. followed by Bowers, Dave Allen and Larry George. Davidow made no mistakes on Sunday to take the win easily followed by Crawford. On Saturday Amateur Torsten Corum led the 175cc Amateur/Experts to the bomb followed by eventual winner Cliff Thomas on Dick Allen's sponsored Yamaha IT. The ride of the day came from Donnie Morrison who was last to the bomb , moved through traffic to fifth on lap one , then second on lap two and this is where he finished. On Sunday Morrison led the race from wire to wire with Cliff Thomas finishing second. At the end of lap one the order was set: Morrison, Thomas, Oren Beck. jr.. and Tom Elias. On lap two near check one, Beck was flagged
