It was announced that a new motorcycle park. was being built by the Newhall Land and Farm Corp. near Castiac Junction. Walt James of the California Racing Association was retained to manage the 300-acre park, which was named (in memory of the Alliklik group of the Shoshonean tribe, who roamed the area) as Indian Dunes. The AMA Grand National Championship point standings were shuffled following a ru ling that the number of points awarded wer e to be based on the total pune for an event, ra the r than on j ust the amount of mo ney paid for the championship ra ce itself.
