EasIe HST. Rain orshine, _ our linest performance Ii,.. it's o 00 0') ...-4 BLM rele.... Desert ciraft plan. Hayes targeted byeco-freek. The long awaited BLM California Desert Conservation Area draft plan hit the streets last week. The plan is about the size of a telephone book. filled with maps and tables and charts, most of which ignore the data which was submitted by.riden during the input phase. In the draft plan, each element such as recreation, energy, wilderness. minerals. etc., are discussed .in terms of three different alternatives. The alternrives are "Protection," "Use," and uBalanced. The actual evaluation of th.ese alternatives will take place during the next 90 days by which time all additional comments must be presented to the Bureau. If the BLM decides to adopt the "Protectioo" alternative. there won't be a lot of din bikr riding in the dez any more. It behooves every interested rider to get a copy of this repan and get your ro~ents back to BLM during the comment period. Copies can be obtained by writing to: BLM Desen Plan. ll610 Central Ave., Suite 402, Riverside, CA 92506. While. talking with Assemblyman Bob Hayes' office, we touched on the subject of reelection. Right now, according to the Assemblyman's assistant, Hayes is probably the number one target of the environmentalists. The reason is simple: not only did Hayes defeat a "good" environmentalist vote last election, he has had the audacity to actually try to do something constructive while in Sacramento. Although he has drawn no opposition in his primary election inJune. there are seVeral wellfunded opponents fighting for the chance to unseat him in the general election in November. There will be a lot of money spent trying to remove Hayes from office. The key question is: will the motor· cyclists get behind their man in Sacra· mento and help keep him there? Right now, said to say, his reelection campaign fund is not very large. In view of the fact that a family can take a straight credit from their state income tax return for up to $100 of camppaign contributions. it behooves all of us to spend at least that much to help him get reelected. Why send it to the tax collector when it can do some good? - The addresa for the Hayes for Assembly Headquanen is: 18550 Citronia St. Ill. Northridge. CA 91!l24, Attn. Arleigh Kerr. Treasurer. Because of campaign reponing laws, anyone wishing to contribute more than $100 must include the name of their employer and their occupation. How about some of the clubs taking a $1 per entrant surcharge at desert events and contribute to the campaign? If we are going to continue to have a voice in the capitol. we have to prove that we can get behind our people the same as the environmentalists do; with support and money. A lot of other Iegislaton are watching this race; it's up to each of us to show them that Hayes' frr~t election was no fluke. It C. N. Deepthro8t Eagle HST was built for those sunny touring mornings that tum into slippery, rainy afternoons. This third-generation touring tire has the most aggressive tread a street Eagle has ever carried. Tests at Goodyear's San Angelo, Texas, proving grounds show that, even in 78 inch 9f water, the HST still lays down up to 75% of its footprint. That wet traction can help you control your bike in a sudden rainstorm. Eagle HST also has four plies of rugged triple-tempered nylon, for what many riders consider to be the optimal balance between touring toughness and riding comfort. And, although it can be used with a tube, the Eagle HST was designed to be used tubeless, for strong performance and easy maintenance. The rider who buys Eagle HST buys Goodyear's best. Beefed up shoulders and a wide tread also give this motorcycle tire good traction, handling and stability characteristics in the comers. The HST rear comes in sizes MT90-16 (5.10-16), MT90-17 (5.10-17), ML90-18 (3.50-18), MP9Q.18 (4.25-18) and MS85-18 (4.75-18). Rib fronts come in sizes MJ90-18 (3.25-18), MJ90-19 (3.25-19) and MM90-19 (3.75-19). Ask the expert-your motorcycle dealer. Then put your touring bike on the best motorcycle tire Goodyear has ever built. Eagle HST.
