Do you c:omicler younell pretty forlUDace about your raciDg career? Yeah. Everything I've got is from rac· ing. I've had a couple of bad yean, but I really can't complain. You mentiODed that cowanb the end of your contract with Honda, they didn't _ to care about you. But when they fint IigDed you they mUlt've been really happy to have you. Baclt then, when they signed me, Dennis Blanton was the race manager, and he was a damned good one. He really kept the team close. Then we got another guy - I don't know and aU the trading and changing managers and all the people in the offices just made the team get fanher and fanher apan. Was it because of any perlOW differenca a_g the racen? No. When Dennis was there, the team would all get together and do some· thing, like go to Mexico. That was great. Everybody had a good time and enjoyed everybody's company. The last couple of yean that I was with Honda, it got to be that everybody could have cared less. GUDJUlr Lindstrom has been the manager lacely, couldn't he do anything? Gunnar did a good job, but he has to do things according to the way the people who hired him wanted him to do. So whether we liked it or not - or whether he liked it or not - he had to do it. h seemed that they were putting more of their efforts into the TT and road racing pan of the racing program than into motocross. I could see it coming. I've been with Honda looger than anyone die. I knew what it was like when I began and I knew what it was like when I was just getting ready to quit ... Six yean with Honda; that's longer than anybody has been with any other team. It was really hard for me to take because I didn't want to quit Honda. There were still a lot of people there who were my friends. But when this is the only way that you can make a living, then you gotta do what's best. That's the thing t~t I'm really happy with about Suzuki. h seems like a total union of people over there. h's complecely different. Everybody is there to help everybody else. When I went up there to sign the contract, I got a warm feeling when I went in there. They say that you meet the nicest people on a Honda ... well it's the other way around. You meet the nicest people on a Suzuki. "When I get on the startz'ng line for the 500cc Natz"onals, the only thing that's goz'ng to be in my mz'nd is winnz·ng. " When you left Honda, they didn't fire you aDd it didn't have anything -to win! o 00 ~ ..... ... GUERRA WINS BOTH 250 MOTOS IN SERIES FINALE! T-SHIRTS to do with your performance? No. We couldn't come to any decent terms. They weren't happy with what I wanted, and I wasn't happy with what they wanted to give me. What can you lay about your Suzuki contract? h's a good contract. It's about like any contract that you sign. h's just that Suzuki's got a really good bike and they've got really good people. Mark Blackwell is one of the best race man· agen there is. He's in there fighting for you aU the time whenever there's things to do for the team. He's 100 percent for the team, and that makes a lot of difference.
