The Lightweights M.C., now mown as
the most active club of District !ITs
scrambles division, hosted an event at
Perris Raceway 10 years ago this week,
but it was a motocross. The 125cc
Amateur/Expert division featured a
three way battle between Gary JODes,
Gary Bailey and John Ilife. Jones,
full-face helmet and stripped AT-I
Yamaha and all, took the win. Bailey
came back to win the 250cc Amateur/
Expert class, defeating Danny Hockie
and Mike But.
One of the starters at a dual European
scrambles out in the desert was a true
European.Derek Ilickman, of brothers
Rickman fame. finished fourth in the
500cc Amateur/Expert class.
In CMC MX action, Greeves-mounted
Jim Wibon took tbe 250 and 500cc
Expert classes. defeating John DeSoto
andLan LaI'llOll in the latter.

IDOtocrosser nave Biden, who revealed that his first motorcycle was a
1928 175cc Francis-Barnett that he
bought iIi 1950 for five pounds Sterling,
or about $15-$201
