In 80· sunshine the umout was more than had been xpected. While most of the local rts were traveling south to the San iego area for the ATA trials, the ajority of the 5' entrants were in the teur, Novice, and Beginner cIasses. The purpose of club trials is to prote the sport with the emphasis ing on the lower classes. For this n most of the sections are ridden all classes, giving the newer rider an pponunity to observe the better ridn in the same sections. The competition was hot as riden ackled rock, sand, trees, and water. I sections were within walking dis; the lint group of sections were ted in a small grove of pine trees collected points from all classes. . os 4-5-6 and 6A were in a stream Jaden with rocks and cobblestones required travening the water ral times. G. Conrad's ride of 5-0-5 Section 6A was only bettered by D. emard's 1-5-1 which kept the comtition alive. The Kids' and Sidecar classes were rprised when they too were directed veT the Jogs and were seen in some ry unusual positions. K. Morris anaged to stay ahead of C. SCOlt just ng enough to register his fint win in e Kids' class. The sidecan were out force again and the team of ammid and jacoby took the top non while displaying their unique ding style. Sections nine-10 and II saw the eginner class draw to a close as G. pazian stayed only one point ahead B. Morris after 20 sections. Trials Manhals for this event were try Barr, Boyd Bernard and jay inger, with a free hot dog, coke or a r award for coming out.
