• _tbera Nevada·Soathern Call State Series getting underway over at Saddleback Park, the California Racing Club and Indian Dunes were surprised when over' 250 riders showed up at the gates for the first CRC race of the 80s, a motocross on the International Track. In the Pro classes, nearly 30 riders entered the three classes, and of those riders, Simi Valley Cycles' Jim Simons, Tri Tech/Sy Klops Cycles' Pete Snorteland, and Don Draskovich brought home overall victories in the 125cc, 250 and 500cc classes respectively. In the one-twa-fives, Simons ran away with both motos virtually uncontested. Matt Whiting followed behind in second for both motos to pick up second overall with Bobhy Ryan grabbing third with his pair of threes. In the 2505, Snorteland ran away with both of his motos also, and again the two overall followers finished the same in both rounds. Second both motos and overall was Eric MacCracken, with Jim Coffey third on all three Kores. Snorteland tried to make it a pair of overalls in the Open Pro class, but Don Draskovich had other ideas. In the first moto, Draskovich and Snorteland traded the lead back and forth, until Draskovich took control on his 465 YZ. Round two saw the same situation, 'the two exchanging the lead a few times, but in this race, Draskovich pulled away towards the end of the race and roosted off to a comfortable win. Dave Haugh picked up third with his 4-3 score after Eric MacCracken, who finished third in his first moto, failed to make the start of the second. For the Intermediates, the 1005 led it off, and Gary DePillo traded mota wins with Zoli Meszaros, but took the overall win. The 2505 we.re next up on the gate. where Andy Meszaros picked up a pair of mota victories and an overall win. Donald Hobs~n's pair of fourths took second overall, ahead of Dan Moore's 7-2 score. Ron Willison defeated Mike Harth in the 5005. Last on the line were the 125s, with 21 riders crowding into the f1rst turn, After the dust settled, Eddie Guajabdo had command, and went on for the win over Brook Bolstad, Allen Silhanek and Rod Robertson. Larry Baker picked up the win in round two to go along with his first moto eighth, leading Pat Weber, Guajabdo, Zoli Meszaros and Robertson across the line. Overall, Guajabdo, Weber, Baker, Robertson and Silhanek were the trophy winners: • Results MINI NOV: 1, Alan Lippie IVam); 2, Greg Gest ISuzl; 3, Jeff Barbacovi IVaml, MINI BEG: 1, Johnnv Whitsen ISuzl; 2, Gary Vbarra IHanl; 3, Eddie Castaneda ISUlI, MINI INT: 1, Skip Godinez IKawl; 2.
