She got a good start, grabbed the lead quickly and carried it to the finish. 50 French put in a fine ride after nearly losing control of his bike in the second turn on lap six to claim second place with Clayton Hull (Suz) ably riding in third. Willie McCoy (Yam), sponsored by Knowles Yamaha, appeared to have the 0-65cc class wrapped up tight. On the last lap, though. he and Lance Lozano (Suz) tangled. Bubba McCoy on another Knowles machine zoomed in to take the win. Chrissa Douglass (Yam) of Cowtown Yamaha got it together and took second with Willie, down but not out, coming back for third. The 85cc Senior class ran in a close pack for twO laps with Jimmy Thompson (Yam) and Dodd Dyson (Suz) going for the lead and Todd Haas (Yam) and Jimmy Tarleton (Yam) right behind. Thompson of Carters Yamaha got the checkers first. Dyson lost it on the last lap, giving the runner-up to Haas with Tarleton third. Joe Hodges (Hon) put the pressure on Mike George's Kwik Kar Washbacked Honda for the lead in the 85cc Trophy class. George never relinquished the lead, though, and clinched the title for number one with Hodges a strong second and Gary Moore (Hon) third. The Powder Puff race brought "un- beatable" Brenda Pratt to the winner's circle with Roxanne Cox (Yam) second. Chrissa Douglass (Yam) fell off the pace and was passed on the inside by Cyntbia Crow (Hon) for third. Ivan Pootsky (Hon) gave Eddie McCoy (Yam) a run for his money in the Over 30 class. McCoy maintai~ his number one position, though, and roared home for another win followed by Pootsky and Richard, Douglass (Yam). T.). Houghton (Yam). sponsored by Kwik Kar Wash, led the 85cc Expert class. Rusty Patillo (Hon) and Charlie Orr (Hon) shuffled for positions in back of him. On the sixth lap Patillo of L.B.R.T. made his bid for second then tried to power by Houghton._The two nearly crashed when Patillo's bike clipped Houghton's rear tire. They didn't lose it, though, and a "blanket finish" brought Houghton first, Patillo second and Orr third. In the lZ5cc Trophy race, Bill Herndon (C-A) wheelied into the first turn and carried the lead all the way to the checkered flag. Gregg Harrison used the fence as a berm in an effon to power his Honda past Herndon. Unable to find the extra push, Harrison had to settle for second with Tubby Dotson (Yam) third. The scramble to the first turn in the Open Trophy class was packed. Harrison pulled a good lead, though, and held it to the winner's circle. Ken Childs (Bul) held second position until lap six, losing it to Pat Kennedy (Bul). In the Open Expert race, the yellow flag came out after Gregg Harrison went down. With the other riders finishing the third lap and Harrison still down the red flag came oul. Harrison got up ready to ride, though, and was put at the rear of a single file restart. Steve Gulledge (Bul) continued to hold the lead he had when the red flag came out and won flawlessly with Herndon second and Mike George (Hon) third. Results AUTOMATIC: 1. Kim Gulley !Yoml; 2.50 French; 3. Clayton HuH (Suzl.
