and David Bunker (Hon) behind.
Back in 12th was Gregson, moving up
fast. By lap five, French yielded to
Gre810n and both wid~ed the gap on
the rest of the field.
Rain poured down in buckets for
the first 250cc Pro moto. LOP rider
GregJOn was first to the triple jumps
which he cleared with ease, mud and
aU, much to everyone's amazement. It
was good to see Rich Earle back in
action after a year as Gregson's tuner.
Earle (Suz) held down second for a
while until Rich French (Yam), (from
somewhere back east), passed him
with smooth precise styling similar to
Gre81On's. Gary Ostreim (Suz) looked
good also and finished fourth.
Mota two found Gregson doing his
thing only to lose it on the third lap to
friend and ex-LOP rider Bjll Joyce on
a Husky. At the flag it was Joyce,
Gregson, French, Earle and Mitch
Paulsen (Kaw).
Open Pros had no problem with the
mud. Idaho's Tod Pruett on a big bore
Kawasaki support ride was extremely
fast. He won mota one followed by
Clay Azar (Yam) on a 465cc mODSter
and Richard Earle on an LOP 425
Yamaha belonging to Mark Gregson
who did not ride this event. Final
round had Azar lead wire to wire while
Pruett and Earle tangled, letting Joe
Knight (Suz) into second, but a DNF
in mota one kept him out of the cash.
It might have been a wet night up
north, but Gre810n didn't mind. He
.got his share of the cash and also had
only a half hour drive home to Salem,
Oregon.
