Hundreds of motorcyclists used the opportunity
of a sunny Saturday-after-Thanksgiving to enjoy the California desert. Some raced at orS ganized events, some rode op the highways, and
some rode off-highway from
Barstow to Las Vegas. avoiding
areas dosed by the Bureau of
Land Management.
There were two closed areas. one on
the nonh side (mostly) of Interstate 15
between Field Road and Rasor Road.
and the other in the Clark Mountains.
While the BLM presence was just
about
non-existent
near
the
traditional starting area at Alvord
Road. there were many BLM vehicles
seen near the Clark Mountain area as
motorcyclists rode past the closed
area.
While much was made about the
powerline road belonging to the 1.0&
Angeles Depanment of Water and
Power as an o~ corridor. many
riders used a different legal J:OUte.
Barely two miles past the stan, riders
turned and went under the freeway to
pick up graded roads leading to the
