riders crossed the finish at 104.6 miles,
which was check seven. This event has
always been one of the best enduros in
northern California. Out of 514
starters, over 450 finished. Speeds for
the day ranged from a low of 14 mph
to 55 mph, providing a very interesting
enduro. As the first riders were
finishing. complaints were registered
about check three.
The club
investigated the mileage and found
that the check in question was in the
wrong location; which caused checks
three and four to be thrown out.
Results were figured on only five
checks. Hi Point sponsored Jeff
Henning, riding a 280 SWM. was the
overall winner followed 20 seconds
later by Troy Kelso. also Hi Point
sponsored, riding a 250 Yamaha.
Overall B rider with 10 points was
Can-Am mounted Bob Terwilliger.
Overall C honors went to Dan Nielson
with 18 points. Dan is the son of
George Neilson who's been in the top
20 Expert point standings in D-56 for
the last few years.
The Polka Dots wish to thank alI the
property owners who made this event
possible. Special thanks go to B~ce
Young (Hi Point) who donated Oil at
the gas check to many riders. This
particular event is the type that tries to
cater to not only the A riders but to the
B and C riders as well.

1).36 short track
battles rage on
By W. H. Spencer
NEWMAN. CA. NOV. to
District 36 short trackers, with
only a few weeks left in the Black
Plate point gathering season,
have pulled out all stops to try
defeat Kim JorgenRn in the big bore
class while the Mini battle between
Chris Carr and Aaron Hill rages on.
Carr won the IOClec Expert main
event in much the same way he has
dominated both short track and
scrambles on his Jorgy's RM/ND
sparked Suzuki. Aaron Hill took the
first of two seconds for the night while
Kurt Chandler was third. Chandler
ca~ back to pass Hill on his Salinas
KX-80 for that win and moved closer
to HilI in the big point battle for the
top three spots.
Jason Cahoon beat 0l,1t Pat Ballew for
the Pee-Wee class win on their
abbreviated track that has a slight
bank built into the short quarter-mile
oval. Bodie Shepard continues to do
the 60cc Novice winning while some
new blood i'n the 80cc Novice ranks
saw Frank Morris win over Danny
Cahoon and Shepard. Bobby Davis
won the combin(d lOO-80cc Junior
with Mayfield winning the 80cc
portion over Kevin Bricker.
Steve Fishcer won the best of the
125cc Junior class. beating out Brian
Blackburn and Marv Dunham. while
Frank Martin took the 125cc Junior
portion with ease.
Steve Mitchell has taken off to the
Sportsman ranks from the Mini class
and won the 250cc N,?vice tonight on a
Jorgy Can-Am over Allen Spears and
Jim Ashley. It was another no sweat
win for Doug Chandler in the 250cc
Junior on his KX-250 with a big lead
over Bobby Nelson and Don Sanders.
The 250cc Expert resembled one of
those National type battles with three
heats, a semi and the no holds barred.
slam bang main event. Alex Jorgensen
continues to improve his skills, if that
is possible, leading all laps a.nd
finishing about 10 feet over Rick
Graham. Graham. riding a BOSS
Yamaha. caught up to Alex toward
the end, but couldn't figure a way
around. The two National numbers
had it pretty much their own way with
Ben Zakarian the only other close guy
on his Zakarian Kawasaki. The
Regional Novice champion had a
rather tough battle with Graham in his
heat for two laps until one rider
dropped it going into the flrs.t comer
right in front of Graham. Rick rode
over the fallen front wheel and was
headed directly for the fence. when he
recovered from an obvious highside
with an incredible save.
Ted Davidson took fourth over Kim
Jorgensen, Danny Moore and Bill
Scott for another thriller in the 250cc
Expert_ Ted came back to win the
5()(lcc Expert after a good dice with
teammate Craig Scroggins on a Glaze
Electric Yamaha with the KR
monoshock. Bill Scott again was in the
point run, getting by John Pittman for
fourth.
Doug Chandler had a good dice in
the 500cc Junior with Hector Alcala
leading the first half while Doug
figured a good line to take for the pass.
Alcala's IT 500 is very fast anc;l Doug
had to do a good set up job for the
narrow groove; when he went for it. he
made it,look easy.
