NOV. 4 Late Saturday evening rains left riders expecting Huron Cycle Park to be unrideable, but due to the excellent track prepara' tion no one was left disappointed. Racing action started hot and heavy as Chip Chapman pulled the holeshot in the 125cc Pro class. Mike Olmsted followed Chapman for two laps until he was overtaken by Jon Nelson who gave Chapman a run for his money but just couldn't match the pace. Chapman finished first with Nelson second followed by Olmsted. The second moto broke Iooee with Nelson leading this time. Chris Benincasa got into the fight early and chased at Nelson's heels for a lap. By lap two Benincasa had been overtaken by Randy JoJu:lston who began holding second very solidly but was still being pulled by Nelson. Lap four saw another change as Chapman overtook. Johnston for second. Chapman started his charge for first but was too far back to make up the time. Nelson finished first and Chapman second. The 125cc Juniors let loose of the line with just as much spirit as the Pros. Darin Vanderpool immediately pulled a huge lead with Mike Inman following hotly. Brett Janzen began to pull up on Vanderpool when he attempted to clear two of the triple jumps; he nailed the third jump, which moved Janzen back to eighth with Eddie Roberu moving into second. The checkered flag dropped with Vanderpool winning by a huge distance. Roberts was second followed by Mark Gwnz for third. Yamaha mounted Doug Silva led out the second moto but he was soon passed by Todd Knight and Brett Janzen. Knight held his lead solidly as Janzen fought with Mike Inman for Results llOSTOCK ~ I 1: 1.
