Disc brakes add a clean look to the
Image while contributing to the tech·
nological facet, too. There's a single
. disc on each wheel. They work great,
although the rear one squeals about it.
The KYB forks and shocks are not
among the outstanding highlights on
the Yamaha, but there's nothing
wrong with them either. Fitting the
Image, the shocks are chromed; forks
are standard unpainted alloy.
Exhaust pipes decidedly are a stylists'
exercise. They begin with a halfBritish/half-Japanese downward curve'
from the cylinder head, sweep back in
perfect complement to the chassis lines
and end in shorty megaphone-looking
mufflers. The mufflers sound good,
too. Won't blow the neighbors out of
bed when you slide in after curfew, yet
