It was the ,night for the big schools only and, just as in the preview race two weeks ago, it was Redlands on top. Leading the Redlands team to victory was Scott Everett (Suz) who took a double win in the I25cc Intermediate class. In round one it was Barney Frank (Kaw/Saddle) finishing runner·up, but he was a no show for the second moto and Mike Anderson (Suz/Poly) took the spot and nailed second overall. In third was Steve Lewis (Suz/Redls) over Mitch Gabrial (Suz/Hemet) and Gary Harris (Suz/Upland). Also taking a win for the Redlands team was Scott Shamblin (Suz) in the 100cc Novice race. Chris Porrett (Yam) of EI Dorado went 2·4 for second over Alan Toombs (Yam/ Hemet) while Aaron Miller (Suz), also of Hemet, was the winner of moto two, but his eighth in the first round Ilut him in fifth overall. In the unattached races it was Ted Hoyt (Yam) who stole the show with a win in the 250cc Pro class. He led the first round from start to finish while Danny Burtt, in his first race in several weeks after an injury, moved his Suzuki up into second place. Having a rough moto was Greg Zitterkopf (Mai) who crashed in the early laps and then cut his way up to fourth behind Bill Chapin (Yam). In the next round, Zitterkop£ made his comeback, taking the lead from Hoyt on the last lap to win the moto. Burtt was third for third overall. Jeff Hollie (Suz) took an overdue win in the 125cc Pro class after an exciting battle with Andy Northrup (Suz). John Silva, also returning after a long time away from the MX scene, was the first lap leader, but Northrup got by on the second time around and then past Hollie on the fourth lap. Hollie closed somewhat on the leader, but it wasn't until the second round that tKey really got down to some serious racing. Northrup led by a half a wheel until the last lap when Hollie got by to take the cash. Coming in third in both motos was Troy Smith (Suz) over Dave Rose and Silva.
