Therefore, there was a large turnout of riders and a great day of racing. In the first moto, Roll·Over Rick nailed the holeshot among .the Expert A.and B divisions. By the second lap Runny Ron had the A group won, while Bent·Over Bill dominated the Bs. Roll·Over Rick and Get-Off Gary battled for second. But Get-Off and his Maico seemingly was no match for Roll-Over's Yammie and his years of desert racing experience when it came to sailing over the long sandy whoops. Moto two featured the two hotshoes of moto one, Runny Ron and Bent· Over Bill. Piner Pat kept the heat on Roll·Over, but poured on the steam the last lap and got him for second place. Jinx Jerry motored to an early lead in the Amateur class. After a few laps Run-Over Ron slipped by him; then, Dinky Dennis got by Run·Over and rolled on to the checkered. After wanning up with a third place finish in moto one, Jinx Jerry shot out from the gate and went all the way in moto two. Dinky Dennis came on strong again, until Lizard Lou, the bermshot ace, ate him up and brought insecoJlld. Drafty Dennis ran away from the Intennediate class, thinking he had it bagged, but on the last lap, Nasty Neal from the northern chapter of-the OTHG, sneaked by and stole the win. Kwik Keith moved up through the traffic to take third. In the second moto, Nasty Neal took command instantly and showed everyone how they do it up Santa Maria way at Spillway Park, his home track. He took back the first place Intenned.iate class trophy. Undaunted Drafty Dennis wheeled in second with charter member Scabby Skip bringing in the rest of the pack. Toad Tom grabbed the most throttle and leaped to victory in the Novices' first moto. Returning after a long absence, Beep-Beep Bob ran second until Chiseler Chuck got him in the last lap. Beep Beep Bob powered his Maico out front and stayed there in the second moto. Jalopeno Jose was running well up front, but endoed hard in the whoops and was knocked cold. Bye-Bye Bob worked his way up to second from 10th place but ate it approaching the white flag. Chiseler Chuck moved in and Baloney Barry brought in third. • (415) 969-1682 (415) 961-5807 ~ G.JJUio' ".
