were a little surprised to see a bike
with "Yamaha" on the side at the
starting line. They were dumbfounded when it ran the quickest
quarter-mile by a motorcycle. Ever.
But our XSll seemed like a
logical choice toTeson. FIrst, it has
a larger displacement than most
ofthe engines usually used in drag
bikes.Yet it's relatively light.Second,
he thought the XSlrs sturdy internal parts (one-piece crank, very
strong stock values, etc.) would
stand up better to supercharged
speeds and pressures.

Were sure glad we listened to Ron
when he came to us. Because of
his inspired engineering and Jim
Bernard's dare-devil riding,Yamaha
has earned a name in the world of
top-fuel drag racing.
The same name weve earned
in motocross and roadracing: numberone..
