National Championship races. A quick look in the parking lot shows you that for most Americans, bigger still means better. The elimination of tbe 750cc class or methods of watering it down to something less is not the answer. None of us would send a seven and a half'year old kid to school carrying 25 pounds just so he'd be forced to wallr. with the five-year-olds. It seems the only logical answer is a series of races for 500cc motorcycles. This would attract a lot of new riders. even new promoters, and would not hurt our present Grand National . Series, since there is no other national series of racing where a privateer stands a chance of winning the number one plate without direct factory support. It was encouraging to read that some member of the roundtable dis· cussion voiced confidence in Lin Kuchler of the AMA. and liked the job he has been doing. I f~1 that with his leadership the future of the AMA and its many missions look very bright. I am fortunate as I have heard him speak at a recent m~ting and it gave me new enthusiasm about our sport and industry.
