Gregg Waldrup won the 12Scc Pro class at CMC's Ascot night motocross. enough pace to be a threat before the flag. Third went to Mark Moscrop, as did thrid overall. David Barberio picked up founh overall with a steady pair of fives ahead of Holley's S·7 fifth. In a hotly·contested combined 250/0pen Pro chase, Cole Brothers rider Kenny Zahn battled with Track n' Travel's John Drury and another Maico rider, Steve Richard, for the overall. Zahn holeshot the first moto with David Barberio right behind on his Cole Bros. Suzuki, and the two quickly ran away from the pack. For the entire first three·quarters of the race, Barberio stuck to Zahn like bubble gum. Late in the race lapped rIders came into play, and Zahrt took advantage of them to pull slightly away from Barberio for the win. In moto two, Richard took the holeshot with Barberio and Zahrt right behind. At the end of lap one, Zahrt made a beautiful pass to slip around Barberio, but as the front trio entered the tower right hander, Zahrt stuck his right foot into a hole, and popped his right knee out of its socket. In pain, the Maico rider shot up into the first turn out of control and went down, but was soon up and applying pressure to the knee. After dropping two laps, Zahrt went on to finish the race to take fourth overall. Out front, Richard pulled away from Barberio who'd dropped to fifth. John Drury pulled into second which at the checkered flag gave him the overall win ahead of Richard and Barberio.
