Tarantino, Lewis, and Dale make CRCpayupat Saddleback By Keith Clemons ORANGE, CA, AUG. 26 Jim Tarantino blitzed the 250cc Pro boys with a first to final lap victory in both motos of Califor· nia Racing Club's latest gig at Saddleback Park. Tarantino set himself on top of the heap to collect the big bucks and gave fair warning to any challengers that he intends to score big in the upcoming set pf CRC $1000 Pro races to be held at Saddleback and Indian Dunes. Sportsmen will have a shot at splitting a purse of equal size but their $1000 payback will, of course, be in the form of product awards. I • • ~ Open Pro Dale Lewis did a similar dance of disaster by wiping out his class of big bike boys. Dale ra n both races out front to win his overall top money spot without contest. Bruce Ashmore finished both motos in second on his Midas Honda, followed by Crown Cycle's Joe D. Price who placed overall third. Things weren't so neat in the I25cc Pro class. First moto winner Dean Cates didn't finish the second race. Second in the first go round, Craig Dale, pushed his Suzuki West machine to a front line finish in the number two contest, and completed the day first overall. Doug Dubach's Premier Yamaha carried him"home third in the first contest and second the next time around to take the number two money 'position while third overall went to Ron Blanton.
