Open c:Iasa champ at Speedway 117. day went to Locey with Hansen second and third to Cross. The Open Pro race saw Hansen again taking the holeshot as the gate dropped for"moto one. He was trailed by Cole Bros. Maico rider Hal Strauss and Wheelsmith Maico rider Greg Robertson. Robertson went down, leaving third spot open for Cole Bros. Maico rider Mark White. Hansen was able to hold onto his lead this time with Strauss taking second and third going to White. Moto two proved to be bad luck for the lot. As the gate dropped, Luft Shocks Yamaha mounted joe Root pulled the holeshot followed by Hansen. As they rounded the first turn, a big pileup put Robertson and White out of the race. About 10 laps into the race Hansen had some bad luck and had to leave the race which left the lead for Strauss with Standard Crank, Inc. Yamaha mounted Clark jones taking over second. Third was held down by International M/C Yamaha mounted Bill Ouellette. Overall scores for the day went to' Strauss with jones taking second and third going to Ouellette. The 125cc Pro race saw AI Baker's FMF Yamaha mounted john O'Mara taking the holeshot and the lead followed by LOP Yamaha mounted Mike Brown in second. Brown put the; pressure on O'Mara and was fmally able to take over the lead at the finish, dropping O'Mara to second. Round two saw Brown take command followed by Tim Locey in second and U.S. Suzuki mounted Steve Schmitz in third. Locey put up a good fight but there was no stopping the strong riding Brown. Brown took the 9verall for the day with second going to Locey and third going to Yamaha Motor's jim Holley who finished 4-4 for the day. Kawasaki of Goleta rider Glenn Cave put together a pair of back-toback wins in the 125cc Intermediate class, followed by Glendale Yamaha rider Pat McConnell.
