"The track's setting up a good selection of lines', but there is a problem of mud making only one line in some places. Team LOP again put in a strong showing in the 500cc class with Marty Moates taking third overall and Steve Stackable fourth. Both riders are Yamaha-mounted. 125cc National When the entrants threaded out down the tracky straight, it was Honda's Warren Reid in front in moto one. Tight behind him was Robert Handy followed by Brian Myerscough. Barnett was a bit ahead of Glover in mid-pack. Before lap one was completed Jeff Ward and his factory Kawasaki had slid into fourth. During lap three Glover moved ahead of Barnett as both were jamming through the pack, now in eighth and ninth positions. Barnett then emerged from the low woods section of the track alone, with Glover coming through again in mid-pack. "I'd just gotten around Barnett, and I got hit and went off the track and got caught in some tires. AMA rules say you have to re-enter the track where you left it, so I had to untangle myself 'and go back. If I got disqualified, I'd be screwed. I just need the points to win the championship," Glover recalled after the molO. Myerscough and Ward had moved
