Johnson, Blacklock smokeAME minicyc/e MX IIIC••• By Judy Greenberg VALENCIA, CA,JULY 8 Pee Wee action ran high between the Suzukis of Kayle Johnson and Matt Blacklock during AME minicycle racing, Sunday, at Indian Dunes. It's not unusual to see this duo battling it out with good solid racing and competitiveness seen in the advanced bigger bike classes. After three wheel-clanging motos, Johnson picked up the day's win. Blacklock (Special T Shirts) took the overall for the Junior Cycle Juniors with a 2-1-1 ride. Kyle Lewis passed Blacklock to win the first moto, with Danny Lamb (Crossroads SUl) and Chuck Torgeson finishing behind Blacklock. The second time it was Blacklock all the way. Lewis had trouble at the start and did some heavy riding as he worked his way up through the pack. Lamb pressed Blacklock for several laps until he went down crying to make a pass. As.. the white flag came out Lewis moved into second. Lamb was up in time to finish third. The last gate showed BlackJock in control to the wire followed by Lamb, Lewis and Torgeson. BUddy Dumo swept the 83cc Modified 9 to ll-year-oldJuniors with triple wins, leaving the action behind him each time. Carl Tignino stayed in hot pursuit of Dumo for several laps in moto one, when he took a fall in the hairpin. Jason Stephens was there to take over, with brother Glen Stephens 'finishing in third. . Tignino was right on Dumo the second time, and this time rode it to the end. The Stephens brothers battled in third !lntiJ Jason put the pass on Glen. Mike M!lrray finished fifth. When the gate dropped for the last time, the riders were tight in their pack. Before the completion of the first lap, Tignino was on his hands and knees, and Jason Stephens threw a chain. This opened the way for Glen Stephens, who moved closer to Dumo with each lap. Tignino was back on the move and passed Murray to take third.
