Neat TM • Show your artl The first annual Biker An Show took place July 29 at the Pasadena Community Ans Center across the street from the Rose Bowl. And it looks like the old Griffith Park crowd has a new place to gather. The object of the show was "To spend a whole week of exposing not what the critics like, but what the people like," ) explained Dr. Gail Kirschner, Coordinator of the Arts Center. "We want to make the annual Biker Art Show a major California run," added c;oordinator Bob Phillips, who explained that his father was an early member of the Hell's Angels M.C. "Daytona, Sturgis are all back east," Mr. Phillips complained. The real "Biker Art Show" was mostly out in the parking lot. but inside the Community Arts Museum were examples of Harley heraldry, and huge, almost tattoos, photographic paintings of-motorcycle sports action and street scenes. There was a Iifesize soft sculpture of what appeared to be a Honda twin. "A Brotherhood of Outlaws" was displayed as the first hardcover fiction novel by a biker author. Art of the capital A variety, the kind that hangs on walls and mounts on pedestals, was in shon supply. Coordinator Phillips blamed the lack of displays on time. He only had five weeks to round up artists and exhibits for this first show.
