But Evert's was making mistakes, and 1 got by him. Then, the next thing 1 knew, Glover was in sight. " Team Suzuki's mad bomber, Mark Barnett tuned up the wick on his air-cooled Doug Grant prepared RA-125-79 and freighted his way past first moto winner Broc Glover. His ·lead continued to build. slowly at first and then with a huge blast as he went on to win the Valvoline sponsored United States l25cc Grand Prix at Pete Weidner's Mid-Ohio Motocross Park. "I don't know what happened to me," claimed the reigning Yamaha 125cc National Champ Broc Glover. "I stayed with him for a while, but I kept-making mistakes. Every mistake would cost me a few feet, then I would just mess up again as I'd try to do better. Barnett just kept goin/:" away from me. He was the 'Iron Man'." . Soon it was difficult for Glover to remain even in second place as teammate Bob Hannah closed and then wheeled past to latch onto second place again, repeating his first moto finish. "I dropped back there for a while and just couldn't get going," continued Glover. "Near the end of the race I was able to come back again and was catching Bob, but I said 'what's the use, Bob isn't worth any points'. " Mark Barnett smoked his Suzuki across the finish line to win the second International moto by nearly 30 seconds over Hannah and Glover. In the first moto the finishing positions had been reversed as Glover stole the holeshot and disappeared while Hannah and Barnett had to play catch . up from last places to claim second and third, respectively. Barnett had been stuffed into the trackside haybales in the second tum after the stan,. and Hannah had to leave the line from the second row behind the 22 Grand Prix ridei's. Bob Hannah's presence at the MidOhio Grand Prix was that akin to a non-persorf. He was there, but yet he wasn't. He was out on the track racing an old air cooled OW-37 Yamaha works bike in his first l25cc race since he blitzed the Mid-Ohio Grand Prix last year and left more than a few riders slightly mad with bent and broken bikes and loss of valuable GP points.
