It wasn't as easy as it sounds. though, with Philip Taboada (Suz) hounding the Kawasaki pilot nearly every inch of the way. The ftnt moto holeshot went to Clint Tarvin and his Holiday Honda with Griewe in a close second. Taboada was further back in the pack. involved witb his own dice with Phil Thorstensen (Hon). Thorstensen eventually crashed. allowing Taboada to jump ahead and join the struggle for the lead. On lap five, Griewe p~ Tarvin for tlie top spot and only a few seconds late!" Taboada followed suit to move into second. From that point to the checkered flag it was a test of Griewe's endurance under pressure. with Taboada pushing him to the limit. But at the checkered ,flag, Griewe was still in {ront and Taboada had to save it for the next moto. Tarvin was third. Right {rom the start of round two. . they were at it again, with Griewe leading by a hair and Taboada applying the pressure. Between motos, Griewe had said that he intended to merely stick to his lines and try to run a cool race, and that was exactly what he was doing. Taboada was spending a lot of time on the slower lines in his efforts to get around the leader but lap after lap nothing seemed to work. At the finish once again it was Griewe by a few feet over Taboada with Tarvin third. Gloves for aD seasons, and aU reasons!
