By Scott Holman
CONROE, TX,JUNE2!1-24
Last minute signups swelled the
entry list to 295 riders
competing in the second TexasLouisiana regional qualifier for
the NMA National Championships to
be held at Ponca City, Oklahoma in
August. The rough sand whoops that
characterize the Lake Conroe facility
gave the riders a different kind of test
as compared to the Wolf Creek track
raced in the first qualifier the previous
week. The Expert class was especially
strong with several new riders joining
the group, including Carlo Musso, the
young Pro from New Orleans who
raced so well in the Superdome last
May.
.
Hailing from Denham Springs, LA
"Bullet Ben" Theriot on his Honda
World 125 Elsinore won both the stock
and modified classes, fighting off a
strong challenge from Musso. Theriot
also came second to Jeff Edwards in
