The race was by no means over and with positions reversed Tarantino laid heavy on Hubbs until the checkers flew. Hubbs made it home Hrst but Tarantino had a wheel up on him at the finish and barreling down the last link it still appeared to' be anyone's race. Donald Draskovich rode his new Can-Am in third place all the way. Tarantino pulled the winning ticket in the second race, taking it holeshot to checkered flag and picking up first overall. Hubbs took a middle of the pack start but was quick moving up to the front and· put the pressure on Tarantino again. Robert Reisinger was hot, however, and drove hard to ace Hubbs out ef his number two spot. Hubbs lost more ground when Bob Marino moved up into third and left Hubbs back in fourth where he finished. Hubbs still went home second overall and third place pay went to Reisiriger. Dave Williams beat the heat in the Open Pro race. by running his Malcolm Smith Maieo through both motos in the uncontested first place position for top pay. Tarantino entered the Open contest also and pushed his Suzuki in second place all the way, collecting second overall. Dale Lewis finished third both times for the money in that position.
