An accident on lap five took out the chair of Kun Kritikos and Pete Essaff while they were running second. The rig slammed into the retaining wall in tum eight. That left leaders Vance Br~e and B. Morris out front all alone for one lap. On the next go around they coasted to a stop with a flat tire. Engin~ring and Castro!. "The track was really slippery. We were having a hard time and slid all over the place a number of times. It wasn't really any fun," said Fred Hopp about the problems of hustling his Fred's Cycle Shop sponsored rig around Loudon for 12 laps. • 17
