Bridgham who was at one time tonight in first till he lost it over a bad drop-off jump. The 250ccjunior Division I race was certainly exciting but not quite as successful for Throgmorton. Greg Vitali was cooking on a Maico and managed to take the win in both motos for the trophy. Mike Tarkington rode his new Kawasaki to second overall, taking thirds in both cases. Throgtnorton was on the gas in both motos, but didn't come out on top because of several things. In the second moto he was in the clear when he messed up by the huge jump in front of the grandstands and this gave away his chances_ Dave had to settle with a 2-4 score and third place. Ron Turner of Luft Shocks was totally uncontested in this evening's 500cc Pro class and is really making a good name for himself. He also won the 250cc Pro class. At the same time that the Pros ran the 500cc Intermediate class was going too. Roger Smith ate them up in the first moto. Ron jones hooked second and Steve-Trenpus came through in third. jones had the second moto dialed in and this did the trick for him as he placed first which gave him the overall trophy. Smith was shoved back into third in this final round and this hurt his score but yet he still ca'ptured secopd overall. Corey Bogane landed third over Michael Hair, Pat Hawley, jed Drummond and Steve Trenpus. Results MINI JR: 1. Dane SUI1UTllll1I (Varni; 2. Deon Peterson (V"",I; 3. Gary YbomI (Sozl. MINIINT: 1. Tetone takes CMC OCIRMX .. By Tom Corley IRVINE: CA, MAY 25 If the gas crunch lets up. one can expect to see a good racing season at OCIR. With the upcoming hot summer months a good crowd should be on hand to support their favorite Pro riders and watch the always exciting "King of the Hill" special event. Continental Moto-sports Club races are run with the Minis narting first and the classes progress up to the larger 500cc machines. The smaller bikes in th~ first. race were totally outdiced by Rowland Heights ace Tony Tetone. Tony rode a Suzuki and is one of the faster 100cc junior racers around. This evening he won the 100 junior class and really lacked some good competition. He had fun dodging the Mini riders and there was quite a few in the. Mini junior class. john McLellan ended up whipping the class for the overall trophy. A fine 3-1 score that he earned gave him the edge over Donny Fish, Newton Aceved~o, and Duane Summers. Steve Hodapp is starting to outshine the rest in 250cc junior competition. He faced 14 other riders in tonight's event and shut them down completely as he led each moto and hooked a pair of first place wins ~o claim the largest trophy. Moto Meister Maico should be glad about this since Steve won on his Maico and defeated the entire class, including Robert Michael, Mike Martinez, Russ Sweeney, and Dane \Vhatley. • GOLD ANODiZED ALUMINUM SWINGARM8.3" travel with S & WTM 14" StrokerShocks. 3/4" longer wheelbase.
