Oxley and Fallon fall down. way. Christian did net earn his way into that event, but McLain did. His start again paid off and carried him to the winners' circle. This week he took two main events, one Scratch and one Handicap. despite a very bad back injury that some claimed might possibly keep him out of speedway altogether. It was a very busy night for the referee, with several riders again finding out that they can not knock riders down and expect to get the win. The biggest penalty of the night went to Dan McNeill, who let his hot temper get the best of him after he and Stan Flanders went down after the checkered flag came out. As the pickup men pulled his bike off him, Dan rose up on one knee and swung a right hook at Flanders. It connected, but McNeill got the worst of it. Flanders still had his helmet on and was not. phased; so not only did McNeill hurt his hand, you can be sure that the pain to his old wallet will hurt even more. Rick Jones picked up his third exclusion in as many weeks for knocking someone down. He may become the first rider to get set down for the year if he can't start passing without making contact. He can ride. and he's fast, but on more than one occasion he's gotten pinched off trying to go between the' outside rider and the crash wall. Jones just plain runs out of room, ending up on the ground with the other rider who had tbe right of way. Jones is still in Second Division. even though he starts from the 30 yard line, where many of his contemporaries have moved on to First Division. They learn early you got to be fast and safe. Dave Miller again won the Division Two Main Event from the 20 yard line. He won 10 more yards for next week and if he keeps winning from the 30, he will be the next guy to get a shot at First Division. Kris Kemsgar did the deed in the Third Division Main, adding one more to his record. • Results SAN BERNARDINO, 616179 SCRATCH MAIN EVENT: 1. Mike Bast; 2. Gene Woods; 3. Bob Mclain; 4. Mike euraso.
