For the most pan, the 250cc Expen class was :i follow the leader event in both matos. But in the second round, Maico rider Dean Wiggins put _on a strong ride that is well worth mentioning. Wiggins had finished' second in the first moto behind Jerome Heiberger (Mai) but in heat two he charged to the lead right off the start and by the end of the moto he had built up a 46-second lead, one of the longest ever recorded at the Ridge Runners' track. Jeff Watts also looked sharp in the second 250cc Expert moto, coming from last place to finish second, which put him in the runner-up position in the overall standings. Steve Kusanovich (Yam) put on a good ride in the first moto of the Open AmateJJr event, Kusanovich was out of the top five at the end of lap one but began to pick his way t1l!'ough traffic, gaining one position per lap until he was closing on the leader; Mike Lane (Yam), Kusanovich tried. for two laps to find an opening but Lane rode well, blocking in the comers and taking the fast line down the bumpy straights. Finally, with only two laps to go, Lane picked the wrong line going under the oak tree and Kusanovich capitalized on the error by slipping by into the lead and "hanging on until the checkered flag. /Moto two of the same class saw Kuaanovich ending up with, a fifth place finish while David Nance (Suz), who had finished eighth in moto one, took the honors.
