TN, MAY 19-20 A field of excellent ' riders turned out for the second 'round of the International .Dragbike Association National Championship Series. Several ET and speed records were .broken as competitors turned up the "boost." The trickest and most expensive two -wheel machinery ever to set rubber on a dragstrip was rolled 20 out to run for the gold. Top Fuel , Super Eliminator. Pro Camp. Pro Stock, Sportsman and ET Bracket classes were run. Kenny Annesley riding a Motorcycles Unlimited twin- engine fuel injected Kawasaki set the fastest ET of the weekend , a 7.93. He took home the gold in the Top Fuel class after putting away -Elmer Trett on a single engine Harley by turning an 9,06 /175 .78 mph. Kenny had just returned from racing at Santa Pod , England where he set a new European record of 8.02. In the Pro Camp class Kosman/ Kawasaki rider Terry Kizer was the top qualifier with an ET of 8.56 / 159.29 mph. but he didn't make it to the final. The number one Pro Camp rider Larry Hayes. riding a Honda , had to retire after blowing his engine during an elimination run, The final event lined UP. Memphis rider Charles Israel and American Turbo Pak rider Pee Wee Gleason. 'Israel took the top place money with a 8:961144.46 mph. Gleason turned 9.11. Ken Blackburn took the win in the Super Eliminator division with Dick Frey the runner·up. Blackburn had an easy day with one bye and two solos before reaching the semi-final. In the Pro Stock division, Terry Vance and Sid Pogue beat all comers until they met in the finals . Vance had had bike problems in the semi-finals but managed to win over a redlighting Bob Carpenter. Against Pogue, Vance's bike once again failed to shift. and Pogue won easily . Later. Terry said he really had felt he could win this event, He hopes that he and Byron Hines will have the bike problems sorted out before the next race. After the last four races. Terry feels that, "The rumor that 1 am in a slump may be true." In Ultra Stock . Hamp Coburn bumped Pete O'Malley with a 10.79 over O'Malley's 11.38. Mike Pine smoked Mide Puglia's Kawaskis with a two second difference in time, 10.12 to 12.37 in the Modified Stock class . Weston Bradley from Jackson, AR wound his Honda up tight. turning a 12.07 to beat Eddy Perfume's time of 15.74. Local riders Arl ie Cooper and Greg Hall took home the money in the ET Bracket racing with 11.15 /117 . H mph and 12,53 respectively. • Results ... TOP FUEL: 1. Kenny Annesley 18.06. 176 mph); 2.
