Oaks Raceway int o a one-mote program as a real "Frog Strangler" hit the
San Diego area Saturday morning and
then came back in again at noon
Sunday . Only a 'su per effort on
Saturday afternoon and early Sunday
morning by all of the CMMC Board of
Directors enabled even the one moto
to get off .
One thing rain does though ; (until it
overdoes it) is make for a real motocross-type track with plenty of traction.
etc . and all classes were very competitive. Yamaha Support rider Ronnie
Lechien had the most successful day of
the Expert Mini riders as he took a
close win in the Mod ified Expert class
over favored Bryon Antonacci
(Premier Yam ); a come from behind
second to defending 1978 Barona
Oaks Champ Scott Swift (S.D . Suz) in
the Stock Expert Class and another
strong second to Antonacci in the
Special 10Scc Mini class.

The wiris came in doubles Sunday
for the Intermediate and Novice Min i
riders as red-hot David Crowson
blasted both Stock and . Modified
Intermediates 12 to lfi -year -old Mini
classes; Brandon Schneider (R&D Suz)
went two for two in the 9-11 Intermediates and new rider Mike Fisher
d id likewise in the 9-11 Novices. For
Crowson it was his third and fourth
win in a row as he has completely
dominated the first two Mini shows at
the Speedway 117 Wednesda y night
races . Fisher really looks like a
" futu re ." as he has not fa iled to win at
least one class per race meet this year
at Barona Oaks! ,
