AMA National Speedway Champion Mike
Faria led a strong field of West Coast . riders
against Norm Robinson's East Coast regulars,
but torrential rains cut the al ready abbreviated

schedule to a one night stand.
T he 40 year veteran of motor-
I gray overcoat. hat and cigar
cycle promoting, Ed Otto , his
synonymous with speedway racing,
again suffered at the hand of Mother
Nature. Monday a nd Tuesday night
events. when crowds are usually on the
up-swing , had to be cancelled. Sunday's opener, on the other hand,
featured ideal weather, an enthusiastic crowd , and the best of speedway
racing on Memorial Stadium's smooth
quarter-mile marble surface.
