may put them rig ht on the enduro
co urse. Bu t it's still helpful to have
maps for yourself and your crew so you
aren't as likely to get lost.
Also va lu a ble to you r cre w is the
rou te sheet. Get an extra one or have
them copy down enough of the turns:
times and mil eages so they'II know
when you' re due at arrows they see
along the route . Obvious ly, the crew
needs a watch set to key tim e or your
cumulative riding tim e to do t his.
First gas
Many end uros of 100 miles or less
are run in two loops, with noon gas
back at headqua rters a bout halfwa y
through the run . If you r motorcycle
can go thi s di stance easily our crew ca n
wai t there , bu t most riders wa nt their
cre ws out a long the rou te in case t hey
use more gas than usua l - in lon g
stre tc hes of mud or d ee p sa nd, for
instance - or if th ey ha ve mechanical
tr ouble .
You r crew should leave headquarters

tank of gas and sho uld not be p u lling a
trai ler . which ge ts in the wa y wh en
tryin g to turn a ro und on tight bac kcountry roads. Since fir st gas is usually
a t least 30 m iles out for th e bik es a nd
mu ch sho rter for th e crews. your crew
has more t ha n a n hour after you leave
to get there and be rea d y for you .
