Indiana's huskiest Husky rider and friend to all. Familiar faces Bu t nationals and qualifiers aren't the only events where you see fami liar riders. Each a rea has its regulars the grizzled and not -so-grizzled enduro veterans organizing and still competing in a sport they love, the upand- coming A riders starting to dominate the local events, the masses of Band C riders trying again and again to do better or just to finish , the occasional woman trying to master a tough game, and the eager young hotshoes who don't really know what's ahead . People like New England natives Al Eames, former AMA enduro and trials m anager', and son Dave Eames ; Michigan's Larry Linden berg, organizer of the Bent wheels qualifiers and head o f the st a te's enduro committee; Perry Pruitt, Indiana 's huskiest H usky rider; California n john Clark . a form er J ack Pine winner who now competes in the' W est ; Jesse T homas. senior rider a nd organizer of the Twin Sta tes end u ro in Ke nt ucky and Tennessee, a nd Cissy Webb of Illinois, who rides well against the me n in r ugged eastern a n d Mi dwest endu ros on he r Ca n-Am. Whether you know them or not depends on where you compete and how long you've been at it. There are new names being added each year to the thousands already competing or who have had their wins and have retired from the field after years of friendly combat against the. terrain . the weather and the clock. The people you remember are the friendly ones who got you interested in the first place, who helped you understand how the game is played. or gave you help when your bike was broken or you were stu ck in a mudhole.
