Another new rule, or no rule, is that there is no more claim on the 750s or the 250s. They can be one-of-a -kind and still run. Also, riders can now run 500cc oneof-a -kind specials, or the same ones that run the European FIM circuit, like the bike that Ba rry Sheene runs for Suzuki. If a rider enters a 500 he does not have to run restrictor plates. If he runs a 750 he has to have the plates. About the only class that still has a claim is the Su per bike Production class . $9 ,000 gets you the com plete mot orcycle this trip . O n that subject , the Sup erb ik es will run 100 miles instead of 50 , so gas stops a re coming into the picture for the first time . Rid ers fro m 11 nations are entered , including England's Mick G ra nt on a. 500cc Suzuki. Ninety is the total entry for the 200 and also for the 250cc International Lightweight chase. The Production class has a record 78 entries whi le the Novice riders again top t he list with a total of 136. Back to all the various dirt track even ts, a total of $37 ,000 is up. for grabs on the half mile and short tracks, plus three nights of speedway ra cing on Sunday , Monday and Tuesday at the Daytona quarter mile. The $37 ,000 does not count the Motocross (Su percross . . . Editor.) 'purse for the event that shares the twin bill on March 10 with th e 250cc 100 · miler .
