T yson Vohland turned the trick in t he 80c c over Frank Szazy, wh ile Shane Gurnsey won th e 80cc N ovice portion over Vi nce Pirlo . Mark Bissell took the 100 cc Sportsman wh ile Lill ie Leonard took second place honors on her Cycle T own Yamaha. A couple of div isions of 125cc Novices show ed up, with Danny Castro easily winning the first div isio n on his Hayward Yamaha YZ, while Mike Randal took the second d ivision on his Jensen Cycl e Suzuki RM . Jerry Ca bra l su rprised his mom with a good second place overall on the Cycle W est RM . Mark Drebert came back strong in the 125q: Juniors to win the second moto for a 5·1 overa ll tie with Joey Pet erson on his Motorcycles Unlimited Suzuki at 3·3. While consistency is usually the best wa y to go , third was a 1·6 affair for Willie Miller over Robbie Webster. John Middleton and Ron Combs swapped positions for the lightly contested 125cc Expert with Middleton taking the w>d for the. second . 0 win and the overall. Combs (who recently turned Junior) appears very effec tive on his . X ra cer. K Dean "Wiggins started out with his usual slow first lap . Coming around the other side of the b ig course in fo urt h ' b ehind ea rl y leade r John Beeman , AI Kondash and Duck Dowell , he had d isposed of all three of th em before the completion of ' the second go · 'round . Shawn McConn hadto pick himself up out of the dirt after a hard crash and rode with the fury of the wind to come back from 12th spot and finished a very fast fourth . In round two , Wiggins found himself behind McConn for two laps but Sha":n just couldn't hold him back. . Wi ggins backed int o the firs t tu rn left hander like he was Steve Ekl u nd . Dean ra n off a nd hid wh ile McConn kep t h is cool a nd too k the second an d a second overall with Combs following for a go od th ird on th e ne w KX 25 0. Pau l Armada combined his consi stent 2·2 motos to win the Open Novice over Ga ry Lea ch in with a 4·1. Leach led the first two laps of moto two , dropped to third a t mid point , but worked back to ta ke the win . Randy McGinnis wound up taking a trip to th e hospital after flyin g off the sta rt right int o a van: He h it a b ike so hard that it started it , causing some ti re burns on h is back . . Stone c o nt in ued h is B ob domin a tion of th e Open Junior class with a 3- 1 overall over Ro y Bartolornie and Doug Larson who swapped positions throughou t. Open Expert was a total runaway for W iggins who managed to "lead every la p of both m otos on his ND sparked Ma ico. The J im Sa itone tuned scoot is do ing double duty but handles it all very well .
