It was good racing too between Mike Montgomery and Rex Hailey with Joel Windham always right with 'em and getting third in the last moto, In the Open class, Bob by Sanders celebrated the birth of his son by winnin g it three in a row . Don Fraue n berger went right with him several times, and the pair of them really had a whale of a time especially in the second moeo, but Bobby, we've observed, will "play" for awhile then just gasses it and gets away from the opposition. John Wells got a nice third in the firs t round and again in the third with Pat Dobbins the spoiler. But the last moto was the best. Bill Bartels rode the rear wheel of his Harley off the line and up the hill , . with Sanders in hot pursuit. Bobby took over the lead, then came Bartels, John Wells and Frauenberger. Then it was Frauenberger's job to get by the other two and up to the finish seco nd behind Sanders, and this is what he did and all in that back section left ha nder - the section of the track that separates the men fro m the boys . All the top riders do their passing there while a lot of the others do their falling down there too. It's tricky all right. Now, disregard your D· S7 calendars for the next run . The Gripsters have moved from the end of this month , Feb. 25, to Mar. 4 . So we'll see you March 4th at Elsinore.
