Jeff Ward turned a pair of seconds into a 125cc overall win for the day. area," said Shultz. " I th ink maybe Rex got distracted and ca ugh t a ru t. That could lose him five seconds easy." Whatever happened . the small margin , that Shultz gained was th e , icing on th e cake and all he needed to take the win . Staten p ulled across th e finish line in second with Shultz's teammate Scott Gillman following in third. The second moto .again belonged to Shultz. Kojo Masuda (Suz) grabbed the holeshot ahead of Husky-mounted Carlos Serrano . W ith in a lap . however . Shultz knocked "off both Serrano and Masuda. and opened up to a comfortable lead. Gillman 1 challenged Masuda throughout th e moto , finally .passing the Japanese rider on the seven t h la p . Mark Lawren ce (Ya m) a nd McKenna fought it ou t for fourth pla ce with Lawren ce comi ng out a head in that contest . Je ff Jenn ings had som e m or e tough Golden Sta te Series luc k, this time ta king a rnoto-ru in ing spill, th e victim of a bad wheel/rut alignment. 125cc Pros Facto r y Suzuk i rider Brian Myerscough and Yamaha 's Broc Glover shared moto wins in 125cc competition. but it was Jeff Ward once again coming up with th e overall victory and the big cash with his 2-2 fin ishes . Myerscough grabbed the lead early in th e first moro and held the position to th e checkered flag. Ward settled into second, followed by John O'Mara (Suz) and Glover. Myerscough was flying and by the end of the second lap he had opened up a six-second margin over second place W ard. Meanwhile, Glover was tail gating Ward while Don nie Cantaloupi held his Moto-X Fox Yama ha in a distant fou rt h . W a rd a nd Glover ba ttled intensely for second pla ce. Ward held th e spo t for 'several laps but- Glover finally got by the 15-yea r-old Kawasaki ride r. Glover encountered some rut trou ble of his own shortly thereafter and took a spill that damaged nothing but his pride; and chances of winning the moto . With Glover d elayed, Ward fin ished b eh ind My erscough fo r second place. Cantaloupi came in for th ird with Honda -Kawasaki of Sacramento's Danny Turner bringing his green machine in for fourth . Glover finished fifth . Ward ' holeshot the second rnoto with Myerscough not far behind. The Iarni lia r - shapes of Glover and Cantaloupi showed up a few minutes later to fight it out for third and ' fou rth . Glover seemed to be winning over a somewha t sluggish Cantaloupi. Fo r a moment i t looked lik e Myerscough m igh t rep eat his first moto win as he pa ssed Ward . to tak e the lead . But the posi tio n was shortlived as both Ward a nd Glover passed him, -lea ving the Suzuki. rider in third place ahead of the 125cc series po ints leader, Cantaloupi. At the white flag it was Ward ahead by three seconds over Glover and it looked like Jeff might hang on for th e win . Glover, howeve r . had other ide as. Midway th rough the lap he zapped by Ward and coas ted in for the last -minute vic to ry . Behind Wa rd were Myerscough in thi rd and Cantaloupi, who was a.distant fourth . , Next week round six of the Golden State Suzuki Series moves to Central California's Dunlap Cycle Park. • Results 125cc: 1.
