problems for the th ird week in a row. The fir st mota saw Su zuki W est's Ga ry Denton ou t front ea rly, but Cantaloupi and Glover slipped by on th e second lap. Myerscou gh came arou nd in dead last aft er th e fir st la p , apparently th e victim of chai n problem s. Glover put his fac to ry eq uipment in the.lead by the th ird lap and began stretching his margin until th e seventh lap , when he got off'a nd Ca nt alou pi fou nd h imself with th e lead aga in . Glover rem ou nted in second and began a charge ba ck to th e front , an d in a wild last lap , pa ssed Cantaloupi twice to fin all y hold on for the win . The second mota saw Glove r out front ea r ly, but this time Myerscough was on his tail. The two t raded th e lead back and fourth for the first few laps until Myerscough took it for keeps . Glover th en experienced more bike problems and had to struggle to hold on the fifth at the flag as Cantaloupi, Dent on and Suzuki's Scott Burnworth slipped by. Johnny O 'Mara almost nipped ' Brae at th e line, but tim e ran out and Glover hel d on to secon d overall . In 250cc act ion Danny " Magoo" Chandler ran awa y with the show .by taking both motos. T he first time Magoo was back in II th fighting off Kawasaki's Tommy Croft , bu t Croft got off hard in a tan gle a nd had to pack it up and go home.' On th e . second go· a round Chandler went fro m 10th to second, th en passed Ma rk Law ren ce at th e to p of th e uphill for the lead . J eff J ennings passed his way up to second before a stuck th rottle sent him ba ck to n inth , which was a tough wa y to go for the kid tryi ng to come back with Suzuki after some lea n years on th e mot ocross scene . Moto .two saw Ch andler take the lead on the first lap with a m id -a ir pass on John Greenway a nd Jennings. lan di ng right bet ween the two. Jennings took over seco nd a nd tried to hold on to Chandler , but again a stuc k th rottl e sent him into a bank as he was moving u p . his series a big one for Jeff , as it will det erm ine whether or not he ge ts a factory ride for th e Nationals and I T ra ns-Ams in '79: Picking up second was Pete Wanket , ahead of Mark Lawren ce, Radical Ron T u rner, Eric McKenna a nd Jennings. For th e 500cc motos, Bob Elliott put together a pair of seconds to top Goa t Breker in the overalls. Danny Chandler handily won the fi rst mo to after passing Tommy Croft in mid-air on th e lo ng downhill , and Elliott sta yed in close to grab second when the practice bike which Croft was racing began to give ou t. Breker and Bob Marino had a nic e battle for fourth going late in the race, which Goat took at the wire . The second moto fourid Magoo wa lking back to the pits after th e first turn , whe re he snapped his chain. Wayne Boyer took over and led the first 10 laps, bu t late in th e race ' Breker put his H usqvarna wide open and shot int o the lead at the bottom of the downhill . Elliott had to also ge t by Boyer to save his overall , which he did as th e last lap flag came ou t. Brek er took the m ota win, but Elliott the overall, third went to Boyer . followed by Dean W iggins , McKenna and Alan Smith. . , . • Results 125: 1. Donnie Cantaloupi IYoml; 2.
