Perris STITT: cold
night, hot Singleton
By Angel Rose
PERRIS, CA, JAN . 13
Due to th e rain, the Perris track
was rough, but the competition
was even rough er. In the short
track, 125 and 250cc classes ran
togethe r and it was a sight to see some
of the 125s running ahead of th e 250s .
Ru nn ing ahead of everybody were
Terry Singleton (Amx) and Dorothy
Rowe (Yam) . They ran neck and neck
for the entire distance with Singleton
th e winner. Finishing behind Rowe
were 250cc Novice winner Rich Ba rns
and to p 125cc Novice John T ou nse nd .
The O pen class short track race was
a cinch for Mike Montgomery, while
O pen Novice winner Bria n Go ttsch alk
had Roger Harmon right on his tail.
The race for speedway bikes was
qu ite confusing. In the first race Troy
Fisher held the lead right up to the last
lap when he had bike troubles. In the
second race J eff Carmello held the
lead for one lap before his bike also
decided to call it quits . The overall
winner was Kevin Weeda because he
finished all three motos.
The ·80cc TT class was a' fami ly
affair with brothers Joe and Robert
Peterson going at it along with sister
Tammy. Joe won the firs t race ,
Tammy took the second but Joe came
back to take the third race for the
overall win.
The 125 and 250cc classes were
combined on the TT as well, and the
resu lts were a bout the same as the
shon track , except in the Expert class .
Singleton. won again , but was chased
to the flag by Tracy Van Bla rge r.
In the Open class nobody cou ld
catch speedway rider SCOlt 'Sivadge .
but the top two Novices. Bill Mitchel].
and Roger Harmon . both beat an
Expert .
