DEC. 3 Johnson lucks out at Sand Hill MX By Pam Stroski BRENTWOOD , CA , DEC. 3 Jensens Cycle's hot ' mini rider Allen Silhanek totally smoked' all his competition on the mini class. Troy Barazoto, riding a new Kawasaki 80cc proved it's going to be a hot little weapon to use against' the fast Su zukis and Yamahas . Steve Machado got a seco nd o n his fast Yamaha 80cc. The 125cc Novice is always the biggest class at Sand Hill and bri ngs .ou t some great competition. Shawn Hantz m ou nted on one .of the Jensen Cycle Suzuk is, co mmented the nig ht before the race that he would win the race. And he did. But if Mark Reynolds had not cr ashe d in the first mota , he may have won instead . Mark finished the second moto with a big lead for second overall . Mike Ziemenski and John Looney dueled it out for third with Mike relegating Looney to fourth. Mike Williams riding out of Cycl e City, Walnut Creek , rode what must have seemed to him like all day. H e rode two classes back to back and took a win in the Jr. Vet class. St eve Machado won the Vet Expert race. Curt Hansen . a 125cc Junior , came down from San Jose to put a stap to the winning streak of Mike Holmes with a 1·2 finish . Holmes broke down in the first rnoto for a DN-F, but he won the final moto . Glen Reinberg stayed in the hunt for second overall and Danny Dobbins took first 125cc Expert a nd most of the bucks . Gary Shipley , an AMA Nationa l circuit rider from Minnesota, came to Sa nd Hill and lead the first O pen Expert moto, but he had clutch trouble and Dave Mythen took the win. The last mota was the hot one. Christ Grewer borrowed a ' Yamaha and was almost the last rider off the line . Well thi s didn't make much difference - Chris pa ssed riders like there was no tomorrow . H e caught Dave Mythen and then' the leader Bill Johnson . T he rear chain came off The successful Fall Series of Mo tocross has ended and extra thanks should go to many special people for their outstanding sup' port.
