Pete Wanket rode his new
Moto- X Fox-sponsored Yamaha
to victory in the 250cc Pro class
at this week's Sa tu rd ay Saddleback MX.
Ed Arnett put his Suzuki out front
at the start of the first moto followed
closely by Wanket and Can- Am
mounted Greg R obertson . Robertson
passed Wanket on the next la p and
then took the lead away from Arnett .
Wanket also passed Arnett and set out
after Robertson. Jim Tarantino
brought '!is Suzuki up to challenge and
moved Wanket back to third . putting
heavy pressure on Robertson . With
only a few laps remaining Robertson
began slowing with bike problems and
Tarantino and Wanket both got by .
Wanket regained the lead and was
first to the checkers leaving second to
Tarantino. Ma ico rider Huff Hadley
placed third as Robertson continued
to fade .
The second moto was all Wanket 's
as he led from start to fin ish. taking
the checkers .with an impressive lead .
Jim Tarantino and Kurt Sofka , riding
a Can-Am , battled for second with th e
nod go ing to Tarantino . The overall
finishing positions were Wanket first .
Tarantino second and Solka rounded
out the top three with a 4·3 score.
Yamaha rider Bob Marino and
Maico-rnounted Arden Hadley had a
fierce battle for top honors in the
Open Pro class . The two traded moto
victories and Marino claimed the win
of.

Scott Burnworth rode his Suzuki to
the 125cc Pro class win over Yamaha
rider Vere Butler and Suzuki-mounted
